Freshman Admission Requirements

California Residents and CA High School Graduates

Be a high school graduate or have a GED
Have completed, or be in the process of completing, a minimum 15-unit pattern of college preparatory course. (Each unit is equal to a year of study in a subject area.) A grade C or higher is required for each course.
- 4 years - English
- 3 years - Mathematics: algebra, geometry, and intermediate algebra
- 2 years - History/Social Science
- 2 years - Laboratory Science
- 2 years - Language other than English: the same language (possible waiver)
- 1 year - Visual/Performing Arts: art, dance, drama/theater, or music; must be in the same discipline
- 1 year - Elective Courses additional classes selected from the above subjects

East Bay Multiple Factor Admission Criteria

CA Resident or CA High School Graduate Index

California residents and California high school graduates are admissible with a minimum East Bay Index* of 2,000 points.
Students with less than 2.0 GPA will not be considered for admission.

East Bay Index*

East Bay Index is calculated by: (A-G GPA x 800) + values earned from the campus admission categories below

Local area applicants with A-G GPA of 2.5 or greater will qualify without the need of additional values (i.e., 2.5 GPA X 800 = 2,000 points)

Local area applicants with GPA between 2.0 - 2.49 GPA may be able to qualify for admission after adding these Campus Admission values to the base East Bay Index.

East Bay Index is calculated by: (A-G GPA x 800) + values earned from the campus admission categories below.

Non-resident or non-California high school graduates with A-G GPA of 3.0 or greater will qualify without needing additional Campus Admission Category values (i.e., 3.0 GPA X 800 = 2,400 points).

Non-resident or non-California high school graduates with GPA between 2.47 - 2.99 GPA may be able to qualify for admission after adding Campus Admission values to the base East Bay Index.
